Year 10 Students Inspired at Oxford’s
Thriving Minds Workshop
Earlier this year, a group of Year 10 students had the fantastic opportunity to attend the
Thriving Minds workshop at Oxford Town Hall – a thought-provoking event designed to
broaden horizons and raise aspirations as part of SGGS’s commitment to personal
development.
The day brought together students from across the region to explore new ways of
thinking and engage with challenging concepts beyond the classroom. Through a series
of dynamic presentations, our students were encouraged to think laterally, question
assumptions, and develop the higher-level thinking skills that set them apart as potential
scholars.
Topics ranged from pondering “What really is a lightbulb?” to unpicking the strange and
contradictory world of quantum physics, and even discovering why “it isn’t all downhill
from here.” Each session was designed to stretch their curiosity and encourage fresh
perspectives on how they see the world.
As well as broadening academic horizons, the
workshop reinforced a sense of ambition and
self-belief, inspiring students to aim high and
embrace their academic potential.
We are incredibly grateful to the speakers from
the University of Oxford and the organisers at
Thriving Minds for delivering such a memorable
and impactful day.
